How to Tell if a House You're Considering Will Need New Windows
Did you know windows can cost anywhere from $300 to $1,000 per window to replace? That’s a costly repair that most home buyers would like to avoid, if possible.
To help you determine if the home you’re considering will need new windows in the future, look for these tell-tale signs:
- Windows which are difficult to open and close.
- Damaged or recently repaired window frames.
- Missing hardware from windows.
- Foggy double-pane windows.
Another item to consider is the presence of single-pane windows in a home. Single-pane windows indicate that the windows are older and not very energy efficient.
If you aren’t sure whether the home you’re considering will need new windows, ask your home inspector. It may also be a good idea to prepare a budget for such a repair in the future, just in case.
